Square Enix Collection and Vote

Remember the game that I developed since November 2014 named Orbiz ? Yes ? Really ? Oke. The next 26 days will be our judgement day. I mean, that will be our hopeful phase because it's a vote phase to be working with Square Enix by Square Enix Collective program.

And What is Square Enix Collective and their missions ? So let's look at their about page. The About page says, It's a curated platform  that enables creators to post ideas, and gamers to judge whether those ideas should become reality or not. If an idea is supported by the community, they may offer to support the project through crowdfunding as well, via Indiegogo or Kickstarter. Yes, I just copy then paste it here. If we’re successful, they may also offer to help distribute our game, which involves getting our game onto PC digital platforms, helping with QA and managing the sales administration. This is in return for 10% of revenue, net of taxes and digital platform fees.

Orbiz Devlog #5 - The Drop Weapon

Above is the new art from our artist, Tino Aja and we are working as hell as we can. But no, we don't want to going hell. Finish our day dream game, Orbiz is the main mission. We just updated the new feature for the demo, the drop weapon. Thanks to our coder, he can drive a drone for capturing the landscape while he didn't code anything or just crafting a drone, damn. Alright, so we tried to implement the drop weapon like metal slug did.

I Will Make MMORPG

About one week ago I got an offer from a guy who works for the company. They told me that they want to expanding their company and trying to deal with game development. I said it's ok and they ask me to came to their office three days after. Then I'm going to their place and they did some interview with me about what games did you ever make and how can you make it. But in the middle of that, they tell the project, they will make MMORPG (like the title I gave) and just need one programmer because they already have the artist. Okay, this is too much and too far away from people who didn't ever made a game before, especially MMORPG. I finished the interview and they said they will contact me again. I drove home and think so hard it is posible to make MMORPG with one programmer, I didn't do connecting server yet and that's why a wrote it, to tell people if it needs very more than 5 until 10 people for MMORPG. I searched the requierment to making sure and here is it.

Moving

So yes, I did the migration from my custom wordpress on the first www.hendrikk.co and pay the renewal domain and hosting invoice for the next one year. Same theme, different engine. It's because I got hacked by a naughty boy, they show their email on my hacked page and then I emailed them. Asking how to fix it, why I can't login on my previous custom blog and they just reply "try to reset the password" then I'd tried and didn't work.

And yes, I prefer to use tumblr at first but I heard a rumor on my country that the government will block tumblr on my country because pornography aspect. That's not fair, I'm already migrate my post there before and using blog.hendrikk.co. So (maybe) my final decision is using blogspot as my new home. I made it since 2011, and yesterday I was deleting about 200 post here. Then I migrated some post about Orbiz devlog and I lost my tutorial post about making game with unity 3d. No worry, I'll write it later. But if you miss my old post, you can visit here --> wp.hendrikk.co.

Orbiz Devlog #4 – Throw Back Thursday

Ready ?
It’s thursday and people who can’t moving on usually post picture or something in their past with TBT tag (TBT is Throw Back Thursday), maybe so am I. I’m gonna tell about Orbiz in the past (but I don’t know if that day is thursday). That picture above is the old “Press Any Key” screen of Orbiz which will using a realistic concept like zombies game in this age before we decided to make it 80s and pixel art style like playstation one art style. Then we made a prototype, just about one month with using dummy assets or bought the asset on Unity Asset Store and hey, we won a local competition.

Orbiz Devlog #3 – GDG Prime and First Media Coverage

My co-worker giving an unusual speech via https://id-tia-techinasiacom
I don’t know what will I’m saying, but last weekend we’ve just attended GDG Prime 2015 (which is the last GDG adventure during 2015). There are awards and we didn’t win anything but duniaku said that we’re the runner up of the most promising game. I just didn’t get it at the first because I’ve very terrible english presentation with theYummyYummyTummy challenge’s, but it’s okay because this year we won Most Innovative Game at IN.GAME festival.

Workshop Blender for Beginner

Sunday November first, thank God I’ve a chance to gave some training about how to begining 3D modelling with Blender on my campus (but I’m already graduated from there). Started with I made a lowpoly environment like the picture above and then my juniors from Ristek was asking me about how if they make a workshop about 3D modelling and I’m the trainer, so I said of course yes. I made a readable tutorial (unfortunately I can’t share that) three days before and trying to make a good start step by step like below.

Orbiz Devlog #2 – Feature Updated

I’ve played many games to looking for an inspiration and having fun like Tomb Raider, Bioshock, and Resident Evil Series
(hey, I got it from humble bundle LOL) last month and this month too. But of course, we’re also thinking about how to make Orbiz better and can be played together with friend
, girlfriend, or even boyfriend on a saturday night party club. One of my inspiration is cinematic scene.
1. Cinematic Scene
I’ve already think how can I implemented that for an indie game and not looks like AAA game. Because we planned to make it rogue like and everything should be modular. So I insert a camera inside every spawner object and also make it zoomed out camera animated after the spawner destroyed. It happens for every spawner and like just copy-paste the object. Below is the screenshot (but I’ll GIF it later).
Cinematic Explosion

Orbiz Devlog #1 - Prologue

And this is the first devlog about how I build Orbiz because we just update the new feature,
obviously the mighty select character so wow. The older version you can’t choose another character, for example when you play as a player 1 you just plas as Ash, player 2 as Ray, player 3 as Max, and player 4 as Leo. But now, you can use whatever you want between that four character (unfortunately you can’t use same character with other player).
1. Character Select
Just press left or right arrow keys if you play using keyboard or press LB or RB if play with xbox controller which is awesome controller for PC gamer fellows (no, it isn’t an ads).
That's why you must play the demo
Technically on unity 3d, I just use PlayerPrefs for the absolute weapon of saving data from the first (select character scene) to the second scene.

Board Game For The First Time

To keep the world balance, me and my new team (from board game challenge event) made the board game prototype. Setting in kingdom era, the game is about stealing a gold chest with moving tokens like a chess. Firstly, we adapting the game from a traditional game called “benteng-bentengan” (or maybe “reach the castle”) which is played by more than one team. Each team standing on their own castle to keep an eye with another team member. If they reach the castle, they win. It’s not that easy because a player can be prisoned when a player from another team (which touch their castle last) catch the player (I hope you understand). And can be free if you save him.

AI Patfinding In Unity3d

Basicly, patfinding is a thing or maybe you can call it your enemy (in case you’re the player) which can following you wherever you go and avoiding the obstacle till they catch you like this picture which I get on the wikipedia.

You’re B and the enemy is A and that’s a simple explanation about pathfinding or you can find more here, the biggest library in this unseen world. Next, if you’re not already install unity just find it here. If yes, I think we are ready to face the future. Inside the unity, we can following the step like below.
