Orbiz Devlog #4 – Throw Back Thursday

Ready ?
It’s thursday and people who can’t moving on usually post picture or something in their past with TBT tag (TBT is Throw Back Thursday), maybe so am I. I’m gonna tell about Orbiz in the past (but I don’t know if that day is thursday). That picture above is the old “Press Any Key” screen of Orbiz which will using a realistic concept like zombies game in this age before we decided to make it 80s and pixel art style like playstation one art style. Then we made a prototype, just about one month with using dummy assets or bought the asset on Unity Asset Store and hey, we won a local competition.

Orbiz Devlog #3 – GDG Prime and First Media Coverage

My co-worker giving an unusual speech via https://id-tia-techinasiacom
I don’t know what will I’m saying, but last weekend we’ve just attended GDG Prime 2015 (which is the last GDG adventure during 2015). There are awards and we didn’t win anything but duniaku said that we’re the runner up of the most promising game. I just didn’t get it at the first because I’ve very terrible english presentation with theYummyYummyTummy challenge’s, but it’s okay because this year we won Most Innovative Game at IN.GAME festival.

Workshop Blender for Beginner

Sunday November first, thank God I’ve a chance to gave some training about how to begining 3D modelling with Blender on my campus (but I’m already graduated from there). Started with I made a lowpoly environment like the picture above and then my juniors from Ristek was asking me about how if they make a workshop about 3D modelling and I’m the trainer, so I said of course yes. I made a readable tutorial (unfortunately I can’t share that) three days before and trying to make a good start step by step like below.

Orbiz Devlog #2 – Feature Updated

I’ve played many games to looking for an inspiration and having fun like Tomb Raider, Bioshock, and Resident Evil Series
(hey, I got it from humble bundle LOL) last month and this month too. But of course, we’re also thinking about how to make Orbiz better and can be played together with friend
, girlfriend, or even boyfriend on a saturday night party club. One of my inspiration is cinematic scene.
1. Cinematic Scene
I’ve already think how can I implemented that for an indie game and not looks like AAA game. Because we planned to make it rogue like and everything should be modular. So I insert a camera inside every spawner object and also make it zoomed out camera animated after the spawner destroyed. It happens for every spawner and like just copy-paste the object. Below is the screenshot (but I’ll GIF it later).
Cinematic Explosion

Orbiz Devlog #1 - Prologue

And this is the first devlog about how I build Orbiz because we just update the new feature,
obviously the mighty select character so wow. The older version you can’t choose another character, for example when you play as a player 1 you just plas as Ash, player 2 as Ray, player 3 as Max, and player 4 as Leo. But now, you can use whatever you want between that four character (unfortunately you can’t use same character with other player).
1. Character Select
Just press left or right arrow keys if you play using keyboard or press LB or RB if play with xbox controller which is awesome controller for PC gamer fellows (no, it isn’t an ads).
That's why you must play the demo
Technically on unity 3d, I just use PlayerPrefs for the absolute weapon of saving data from the first (select character scene) to the second scene.

Board Game For The First Time

To keep the world balance, me and my new team (from board game challenge event) made the board game prototype. Setting in kingdom era, the game is about stealing a gold chest with moving tokens like a chess. Firstly, we adapting the game from a traditional game called “benteng-bentengan” (or maybe “reach the castle”) which is played by more than one team. Each team standing on their own castle to keep an eye with another team member. If they reach the castle, they win. It’s not that easy because a player can be prisoned when a player from another team (which touch their castle last) catch the player (I hope you understand). And can be free if you save him.
